Welcome to Tripmetic ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy globally. This Privacy Policy applies to the Tripmetic mobile application (available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store) and our website (tripmetic.app).
1. Core Privacy Principles (App-Specific)
We designed the Tripmetic mobile application with privacy-by-design principles to protect your sensitive travel and financial planning:
- Optional User Registration: You can use most features of the Tripmetic app without creating an account or logging in. Registration is entirely optional.
- Local Storage by Default: Unless you explicitly choose to create an account and sync specific features, your personal travel itineraries, packing lists, and financial budget data are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you interact with us (via the App or our Website), we may collect the following information:
A. Account and Cloud Sync Data (Optional)
If you choose to create a Tripmetic account to back up your data or collaborate with others, we collect:
- Account Details: Your email address and the secure authentication credentials used to create the account.
- Cloud-Synced Features: Data specifically entered into the Bucket List and Group Travel Planner features is securely transmitted and stored on our cloud servers to enable cross-device syncing and collaboration.
B. Location Data (Foreground Only)
To provide our core travel toolkit features, Tripmetic requests access to your device's location services. We are completely transparent about how this data is handled:
- Foreground Access Only: We only access your location while you are actively using the app (in the foreground). We do not track, collect, or access your location in the background when the app is closed or minimized.
- Purpose of Collection: Your location data is used strictly to display your current position on the interactive map feature and assist with real-time navigation.
- Data Storage: Location data is processed locally on your device in real-time. We do not transmit or store a history of your location data on our servers.
C. Information You Provide Directly
- Contact Forms & Support: If you contact us via our website, we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
- Newsletters & Updates: If you opt-in to receive announcements, we collect your email address via our email service provider.
D. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our website or use the app, certain information is collected automatically by third-party analytics and app store platforms. This includes:
- Device Information: Operating system version, device model, and language settings.
- Usage Data & Crash Logs: Anonymous data on how you navigate the app or website, and crash reports to help us fix bugs.
- Website Analytics: IP addresses and browser types collected via our hosting provider (cPanel) and Google Analytics.
3. How We Use Your Information & Legal Basis
Under global data protection laws (including the GDPR), we must have a legal basis to process your data. We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:
- Contractual Necessity: To provide you with cloud-syncing capabilities for your Bucket List and Group Travel Planner if you choose to create an account.
- Consent: To send administrative information or promotional materials (only if you have explicitly opted in via our website).
- Legitimate Interest: To provide customer support, monitor app performance, fix technical issues (via crash logs), and analyze website traffic to improve our services.
- Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
4. Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to operate our website and improve our app. These services have their own privacy policies:
- Google Analytics & Google Tools: Used for tracking website traffic and app usage statistics. (Google Privacy Policy)
